Position Summary

The Payroll Officer must have a solid background in tax regulations to manage and process payroll activities with accuracy, timeliness, and full compliance. This role ensures that employee compensation is handled efficiently while adhering to statutory requirements, including income tax, social security, and other government-mandated contributions.

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll Processing

  • Accurately process bi-monthly payroll for all employees, including salaries, allowances, deductions, and reimbursements
  • Maintain and update payroll records, timesheets, and leave balances
  • Ensure timely disbursement of salaries and statutory contributions

Tax & Statutory Compliance

  • Calculate and file employee income tax and other statutory deductions in accordance with local labor law and tax regulations
  • Prepare and submit tax forms and reports (e.g., BIR forms, SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG)
  • Stay updated on changes in tax laws and payroll regulations to ensure ongoing compliance

Reporting & Reconciliation

  • Generate payroll reports for management, finance, and audit purposes
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies in coordination with the Finance team
  • Support internal and external audits by providing accurate documentation

Employee and Accounting Support

  • Address payroll-related inquiries from employees with professionalism and confidentiality
  • Collaborate with People and Culture team on onboarding, offboarding, and changes in employee compensation
  • Assist in monitoring and processing of employee expense claim.
  • Prepare and post payroll-related journal entries to the general ledger.
  • Collaborate with accounting to ensure payroll transactions align with financial reporting standards.
  • Provide support to the accounting team with additional finance-related functions as deemed necessary.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Must be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in payroll processing, with proven tax compliance expertise
  • Strong knowledge of Philippine payroll and taxation laws, including compliance with BIR, SSS, PhilHealth, and Pag-IBIG requirements.
  • A professional background in audit and accounting is considered an advantage.
  • Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks, etc.) and Microsoft Excel
  • High attention to detail, integrity, and ability to handle confidential information
  • Payroll certification or tax training is an advantage
