Job Summary:

Job Summary: The Sous Chef is responsible for supporting the Head Chef in all aspects of kitchen operations. This role involves assisting with menu planning, managing kitchen staff, ensuring high-quality food and presentation, and maintaining a safe and sanitary kitchen environment. The Sous Chef will work closely with the Head Chef to ensure that culinary operations are aligned with the needs of the business and its customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head Chef in managing kitchen staff, including hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Help develop and execute menu plans that meet the needs of the business and its customers.
  • Ensure that all food is prepared to high-quality standards and is presented in an attractive and appealing manner.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment that meets all regulatory requirements.
  • Order and manage inventory of all kitchen supplies, including food, equipment, and cleaning supplies.
  • Monitor food costs and ensure that they are in line with budgetary goals.
  • Collaborate with the Head Chef and other members of the management team to develop and implement strategies to improve food quality, kitchen efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Stay up-to-date with culinary trends, techniques, and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in culinary arts or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a culinary leadership role, with a track record of success in managing a kitchen team and delivering high-quality food.
  • Strong culinary skills and knowledge of a variety of cuisines and cooking techniques.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with customers, employees, and other members of the management team.
  • Familiarity with kitchen equipment and inventory management software.
