
Japanese Sous Chef

UMU, a premier Japanese dining destination, is looking for a Sous Chef to support and lead our kitchen operations under the guidance of our Japanese Executive Chef.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily kitchen production and staff scheduling
- Manage food requisition, deliveries, and inventory control
- Ensure high standards of hygiene, food safety, and service quality
- Supervise mise-en-place and execution of menus, specials, and functions
- Train staff in basic recipes and Japanese culinary terms
- Monitor kitchen efficiency and recommend improvements
- Collaborate across departments for smooth operations
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as Sous Chef (Japanese cuisine a plus)
- Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills
- Commitment to cleanliness, precision, and team development
- Willingness to learn and teach Japanese food terminology
