UMU, a premier Japanese dining destination, is looking for a Sous Chef to support and lead our kitchen operations under the guidance of our Japanese Executive Chef.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily kitchen production and staff scheduling
  • Manage food requisition, deliveries, and inventory control
  • Ensure high standards of hygiene, food safety, and service quality
  • Supervise mise-en-place and execution of menus, specials, and functions
  • Train staff in basic recipes and Japanese culinary terms
  • Monitor kitchen efficiency and recommend improvements
  • Collaborate across departments for smooth operations

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as Sous Chef (Japanese cuisine a plus)
  • Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills
  • Commitment to cleanliness, precision, and team development
  • Willingness to learn and teach Japanese food terminology
