Hi We're Smartsourcing, and we're looking for a Sales & Category Assistant to join our onsite team—someone who enjoys turning raw data into actionable insights, supporting sales efforts, and helping brands succeed. You'll collaborate closely with the founders and commercial team, analyzing trends, creating reports, and optimizing processes that drive business growth.

About the Role

This role combines data analytics, sales support, category insights, and administrative coordination. The Sales & Category Analyst works closely with the founders and the commercial team to streamline processes, identify opportunities for efficiencies, and contribute to the overall growth of our client and its partnered brands. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and able to interpret large data sets while also being skilled in producing polished presentations, templates, outreach materials, and category insights reports.

Key Responsibilities

A. Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Download raw sales data from retailer portals and convert them into readable, usable formats.
  • Analyse sales data, trends, and performance, providing clear commentary and insights.
  • Download and format planned orders from supplier.
  • Download and process DIFOT (Delivery In Full On Time) reports by customer and supplier.
  • Extract forecasting data and identify anomalies or variances requiring escalation.
  • Conduct IRI and Quantium data analysis across multiple brands and categories.
  • Maintain and improve data templates for reporting and insights.
  • Highlight efficiency or improvement opportunities in current data analysis processes.

B. Sales Support

  • Customise outreach emails for prospective client businesses, including founder details, product category, and key points of difference (POD).
  • Tailor proposal presentations for potential clients, ensuring branding, messaging, and data accuracy.
  • Assist in creating social media content (LinkedIn / Instagram) using Canva, Visme, or similar tools.
  • Track and report weekly competitor promotional activities via desktop research.

C. Category Support

  • Provide category insights and analysis to support brand positioning and strategy.
  • Assist in identifying category opportunities and performance gaps.
  • Present summary of insights that support category planning and client presentations.

D. Administrative & Operational Tasks

  • Complete PAFs (Product Application Forms), NLFs (New Line Forms), and supplier portal submissions.
  • Help manage retailer portal updates and data uploads.
  • Ensure that all documents, reports, and submissions are formatted professionally and delivered on time.
  • Support process improvement by documenting and recommending workflow efficiency.

About You

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Commerce, Marketing, or related field.

Requirements & Skills

Experience

  • 2–3 years of experience in sales support, category management, commercial analysis, retail FMCG support, or related analytics/administration function.

Technical Skills

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, BI reports).
  • Skilled in Microsoft PowerPoint (presentation formatting, branding, and storytelling).
  • Ability to analyse, interpret, and summarise large datasets.
  • Ability to learn new reporting and presentation tools (e.g., Canva, Visme, Google Slides).
  • Familiarity with retailer portals, IRI, or Quantium is an advantage.
