About the Role

We're looking for a driven and detail-oriented QA Manager / Estimator to join our growing estimating team at Costimate.

This role is designed for someone with strong commercial construction experience in Australia who's ready to step into a leadership trajectory.

You'll be the conduit between the Founder and the team — managing QA processes, reviewing project outputs, and making sure every submission that leaves our office meets the Costimate standard.

You'll also manage your own projects, support junior estimators, and act as the direct extension of the Founder across operations and estimating.


Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance & Control

  • Oversee QA processes for all BOQs, cost plans, and tender submissions
  • Review and check measurements, trade allocations, and scopes for accuracy and completeness
  • Ensure internal templates, markups, and deliverables align with Costimate standards
  • Conduct spot checks and mentor team members to lift quality and consistency

Estimating & Project Management

  • Manage live projects end-to-end: set up, tracking, follow-up, and delivery
  • Liaise with the Founder and Estimating Managers to ensure projects are resourced, prioritised, and on track
  • Learn and understand each project as it progresses — proactively identify risks, gaps, and opportunities
  • Support preparation of BOQs, cost plans, and tender submissions across all trades
  • Ensure key milestones are met (tender start-up, mid-review, final submission)

Leadership & Development

  • Act as a mentor for junior estimators, providing guidance and feedback
  • Be the go-to for technical trade queries and process support
  • Prepare to step into an Estimating Manager role — taking ownership of team delivery and client outcomes

Skills & Experience

Must-Haves

  • Proven experience working for an Australian commercial builder or estimating consultancy
  • Strong trade knowledge across all key packages (structure, façade, services, finishes)
  • Have a good understanding of Australian Software like CUBIT, PLANSWIFT AND COSTX
  • Minimum 5+ years of estimating or QS experience
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills
  • Strong understanding of construction methodology, BOQ formats, and cost planning principles
  • Confident managing multiple jobs, deadlines, and reporting lines

Bonus Skills

  • Experience managing or mentoring a small team
  • Familiarity with Cubit, CostX, or similar take-off software
  • Solid grasp of Australian construction standards and pricing structures
