What is the job?

As Sales manager, you will assist the General Manager in the development and setting of revenue sales targets and the strategies to achieve these for the hotel. You are responsible in the implementation of the approved plans and strategies; and the monitoring thereof, to ensure that revenue sales targets are achieved or even surpassed/exceeded. Regularly and aggressively perform sales activities that range from selling hotel rooms and meeting rooms through direct client contacts; relationship building activities; prospecting for new business/networking and prospecting for potential clients, and at the same time nurturing existing business.

People

  • Manage and supervise the everyday activities of your sales team
  • Set your plan of activities for a period of time and distribute/assign these to the staff depending on their respective positions
  • Devise new ways and strategies to expand the client base through prospecting, marketing, and key relationships
  • Orient and coach the staff to ensure that the delivery of their services complies with the set standards and that they are equipped with the necessary tools Recommend Human Resource Development interventions, as needed
  • Imbibe a great working climate towards building a cohesive and highly work motivated Team
  • Continually motivate the sales team in exploring opportunities to increase the hotel revenue and profit
  • Build a strong relationship with the Supporting team, from the Front Desk to Housekeeping Staff and other departments

Financial

  • Assist team members/staff to achieve all personal/team sales goals and maximize profitability
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual departmental operating budget, the hotel marketing plan and business plan, and financial plans
  • Help prepare the departmental budget and financial plans including the hotel marketing plan
  • Help create and implement sales plans that drive measurable incremental occupancy, increase average rates, and increase volume.
  • Prepare and submit monthly reports and sales forecasts to analyze current/potential market and sales trends, coordinate activities to increase revenue and market share and monitor performance of staff/team members to ensure actual sales meet or exceed established revenue plans.

Guest Experience

  • Help the Cluster Sales Manager in handling complaints or reviews related to group/corporate sales or marketing initiatives
  • Help guests – you'll be happy to help if someone needs assistance with a request or complaint
  • Provide guests with information to enhance guest experience
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key clients and outside contacts in order to produce group and/or convention business to include room sales
  • Schedule conventions and /or business group activities at the hotel and coordinate with other hotel-level departments to facilitate services agreed upon by the sales office and prospective clients.

Accountabilities

This is a managerial position tasked with sales and marketing in a full or limited service hotel and may include meeting space and/or catering facilities.

What we need from you?

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field
  • Five years of experience in a hospitality or hotel sales and marketing setting with direct supervisory experience over a sales team, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency in CRM software, MS Office Suite, and hotel property management systems.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of the local market and trends in the hospitality industry.
  • Results-driven with excellent negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Must speak fluent English
  • Must speak local language
