A. General Job Description
- Promote and uphold the Mission, Vision, and Policies of both the Nursing Division and the Hospital.
- Stay up to date with new regulations, policies, memos, and circulars, ensuring effective application and adherence.
- Actively contribute to Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care in the unit and across the hospital.
- Participate in emergency response efforts as required within the unit and hospital.
- Attend monthly staff meetings, seminars, and events hosted by the Nursing Service Division.
- Take responsibility for your ongoing professional development by engaging in seminars, conferences, and continuing education in nursing.
- Provide mentorship and support to new nurses, aides, attendants, and student affiliates, helping with daily routines, nursing tasks, documentation, and patient handovers.
- Follow professional standards, hospital policies, and procedures to preserve the hospital's integrity.
- Comply with workplace health and safety regulations.
- Lead by example through punctuality, consistent attendance, and a professional appearance, including adherence to uniform and grooming standards.
B. Clinical Responsibilities
- Communicate clearly with healthcare providers to review treatment plans, orders, and progress notes, in line with established protocols.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to coordinate patient care and address patient needs.
- Provide detailed shift reports, ensuring patient data in charts and Kardex are accurate and up to date.
- Monitor vital signs and perform nursing assessments, including patient history and clinical inspections, using findings to develop care plans.
- Conduct regular patient rounds, monitoring IV lines, drains, catheters, postoperative sites, and room cleanliness.
- Join doctors during rounds, staying informed about care plans and assisting with patient assessments.
- Share relevant observations regarding patients' physical and behavioral conditions with physicians.
- Execute doctors' orders promptly, ensuring accurate documentation.
- Maintain thorough documentation of all nursing care and observations from admission to discharge.
- Create a comforting environment by engaging with patients and families to ease anxiety and fear.
- Strictly adhere to infection control protocols, performing terminal and concurrent disinfection and isolation to prevent infection spread.
- Demonstrate nursing competencies, including but not limited to:
- IV line insertion, blood transfusions, and chemotherapy administration
- Providing comfort measures such as sponge baths, repositioning, backrubs, compresses, and oral care
- Administering medications in accordance with the "10 Rights" of medication administration, along with patient education
- Operating and monitoring medical equipment such as sphygmomanometers, cardiac monitors, ventilators, glucometers, pulse oximeters, suction machines, nebulizers, and infusion pumps
- Caring for patients with tracheostomy tubes and colostomy bags
- Managing enteral feeding through nasogastric and gastrostomy tubes
- Monitoring and caring for patients on mechanical ventilators, including suctioning and detecting early complications
- Assisting with emergency care during CPR and intubation, administering emergency medications as per hospital policy
- Measuring intake and output in critical situations, including massive bleeding, shock, and post-operative recovery
- Providing post-operative care and health education to support recovery and prevent complications
- Preparing patients for surgery, assisting with hygiene, administering pre-op medications, NPO reminders, enemas, and completing checklists
- Assisting with patient discharge by providing comprehensive education on rehabilitation, diet, medications, follow-ups, and sanitation.
- Provide culturally sensitive care, respecting patient diversity, autonomy, dignity, and rights without judgment or discrimination.
- Serve as a patient advocate, protecting patients' fundamental rights, values, and beliefs.
C. Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- Open to both experienced nurses and new graduates
- Fresh board passers are encouraged to apply
- Member of the Philippine Nurses Association (PNA)
- Available to start immediately
