Job Title: Hemodialysis Staff Nurse

Department: Dialysis Unit

Reports to: Nurse Supervisor / Head Nurse

Job Summary:

The Hemodialysis Staff Nurse is responsible for providing safe and effective nursing care to patients undergoing hemodialysis treatment. The role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individualized nursing care, ensuring the safe operation of dialysis equipment, and maintaining a high standard of infection control and patient safety.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Patient Care:

Prepares and assesses patients before, during, and after dialysis treatment.

Monitors vital signs, fluid balance, and overall patient condition throughout the procedure.

Administers medications as prescribed and documents accordingly.

Dialysis Procedure Management:

Sets up and operates hemodialysis machines according to physician orders and standard protocols.

Ensures proper priming, connection, and disconnection of patients from machines.

Observes for and manages dialysis-related complications.

Documentation and Reporting:

Completes accurate nursing notes, treatment sheets, and patient records.

Reports any abnormal findings, incidents, or equipment malfunctions to the immediate supervisor.

Infection Control and Safety:

Adheres strictly to aseptic techniques and infection control policies.

Ensures cleanliness, disinfection, and proper maintenance of dialysis machines and equipment.

Patient Education and Support:

Provides health teaching about dialysis treatment, diet, and lifestyle modifications.

Offers emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families.

Team Collaboration:

Coordinates with nephrologists, dietitians, and other healthcare team members for holistic patient care.

Assists in training new dialysis staff or nursing students when assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with valid PRC license.
  • Preferably with Hemodialysis Nursing Training and/or certification.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a dialysis unit (new graduates with training may be considered).
  • Knowledgeable in dialysis procedures, equipment handling, and emergency management.
  • Possesses strong communication, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills.

Job Types: Full-time, Fresh graduate

Pay: Php20, Php25,000.00 per month
