
Hemodialysis Staff Nurse

The Hemodialysis Nurse is responsible for providing safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care to patients undergoing hemodialysis treatment. The role involves preparing and monitoring patients before, during, and after dialysis, operating dialysis machines, and ensuring adherence to infection control and quality care standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform pre-dialysis assessments, including checking vital signs, reviewing lab results, and evaluating patient readiness for treatment.
- Prepare, operate, and monitor hemodialysis machines according to established protocols.
- Initiate and terminate dialysis treatment safely and efficiently.
- Observe, document, and report any changes in patients' conditions during and after treatment.
- Administer prescribed medications and ensure correct dosage and timing.
- Maintain accurate and complete patient records.
- Adhere to infection control and safety protocols in all procedures.
- Educate patients and their families on dialysis care, diet, and home management.
- Coordinate with nephrologists, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals for holistic patient care.
- Ensure proper cleaning, disinfection, and maintenance of dialysis equipment and treatment area.
- Participate in quality improvement and training programs within the unit.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- License: Registered Nurse (RN)
- Experience: Preferably with at least 1 year of experience in a dialysis or critical care setting
- Certifications: Hemodialysis Nursing Training Certificate (required or preferred depending on institution)
- Strong clinical and technical knowledge in dialysis procedures
- Excellent patient assessment and communication skills
- Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively
- Attention to detail and adherence to safety standards
