Property Damage Research and Report Writing Specialist

Schedule:

  • Part-time, flexible scheduling hours per week initially, with potential to grow to 15-20 hours)

Client Timezone: CT (Houston)

This remote position offers an exciting opportunity to combine research skills with technical writing in the insurance and property assessment industry. You'll work with photographs and documentation from real-world property inspections, conducting detailed research to identify damaged household items and determine their market values. The role involves creating comprehensive reports that serve as crucial documentation for insurance claims, requiring both analytical thinking and clear communication skills. This flexible position allows you to work on your own schedule while contributing to a process that helps families recover from moving-related property damage.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze photographs of damaged household items (furniture, appliances, electronics, etc.) taken during on-site property inspections

  • Conduct thorough online research to identify exact product models or find comparable alternatives for damaged items

  • Research current market values and replacement costs using various online marketplaces and product databases

  • Write detailed, professional reports documenting research findings, including product descriptions and accurate cost estimates

  • Provide clear explanations and reasonable approximations when exact product matches cannot be located

  • Follow established report templates and formatting guidelines to ensure consistency and professionalism

  • Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding questions, clarifications, or complex cases that require additional guidance

Requirements

  • Strong internet research abilities with experience using search engines, online marketplaces, and product databases effectively

  • Excellent written communication skills for creating clear, detailed, and professional reports

  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in cost research and documentation

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while meeting quality standards

  • Reliable high-speed internet connection and computer access for research and report writing

  • Experience with online shopping platforms, product identification, or similar research-based work preferred
