Position Summary:

As a Structural / Mechanical Drafter you will be responsible for preparing high-quality technical drawings and documentation to support the design, engineering, and manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in both structural and mechanical drafting, with proven proficiency in AutoCAD 2D and Inventor 3D. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to interpret Australian Standards, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure design accuracy and production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Technical Documentation: Prepare, review, and maintain detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and fabrication documentation. Ensure all outputs are accurate, clear, and compliant with company and industry standards.
• 3D and 2D Drafting: Produce 3D models and convert them into 2D workshop and site drawings using AutoCAD and Inventor.
• Bill of Materials (BOMs): Generate comprehensive BOMs and stock lists to support set construction and fabrication processes.
• Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, project managers, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration of designs into production workflows. Provide technical support as required.
• Quality and Standards: Interpret and apply relevant Australian Standards in all engineering and fabrication drawings.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify and propose opportunities for enhancing drafting efficiency, design quality, and documentation standards.
• Project Management: Manage multiple drafting projects concurrently, ensuring deadlines and quality benchmarks are consistently met.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 7 years' experience in structural and preferably mechanical drafting.
• Demonstrated expertise in AutoCAD 2D and Inventor 3D, including the ability to convert 3D drawings to 2D documentation.
• Strong understanding of mechanical and structural design principles and fabrication processes.
• Must meet the English language proficiency requirement for effective communication and documentation.
• Proven ability to interpret and apply Australian Standards in engineering and fabrication drawings.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and organizational skills.
• Capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a technical team environment.

Preferred Skills (Advantageous)

• Experience in manufacturing or construction-related drafting projects.
• Familiarity with material selection, fabrication methods, and assembly practices.
• Knowledge of data management systems for version control of drawings and documentation.
