Nutrition and Retail Specialist

We are seeking passionate and knowledgeable Nutrition & Retail Specialists to join our team. The ideal candidates will leverage their nutritional background to educate customers, recommend appropriate products, and drive sales while fostering a welcoming and informative shopping environment. This position is crucial in helping our customers achieve their health goals by guiding them through our diverse product offerings and living our mission of Fresh, Healthy & Happy Eating.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Education & Consultation:

• Provide personalized, evidence-based nutritional guidance to customers based on their health goals, dietary restrictions, and lifestyle.
• Answer customer questions about product ingredients, nutritional content, health benefits, and preparation methods.
• Educate customers on various dietary approaches (e.g., keto, vegan, gluten-free, low-FODMAP) and our relevant product selections.
• Conduct informal consultations to understand customer needs and offer tailored product recommendations

Sales & Product Promotion:

• Actively engage with customers on the sales floor, identifying opportunities to recommend products that align with their nutritional needs.
• Drive sales of retail items, specialty foods, health-focused products, and prepared meals by effectively communicating their value.
• Ensure proper labelling of retail products, using approved codes and standard information.
• Participate in and support in-store promotions, sampling events, and educational workshops.
• Achieve individual and team sales targets.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of current inventory, new product arrivals, and best-selling items.

Merchandising & Store Operations Support:

• Assist with stocking shelves, maintaining product displays, and ensuring a clean and organized sales floor.
• Ensure that the shelves are labeled correctly with our OWD codes & other requirements
• Monitor product freshness and expiration dates, rotating stock as needed.
• Process customer transactions accurately using the POS system.
• Handle customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints in a professional and courteous manner.
• Collaborate with the store team to ensure a positive shopping experience for all customers.
• Knowledge & Professional Development:
• Stay up-to-date with the latest nutritional science research, dietary trends, and product innovations in the healthy food industry.
• Continuously enhance product knowledge across all store departments.
• Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.

Qualifications:

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Science, or a related field is required.
• Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) or Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS) preferred, but not mandatory.

Experience:

• Some experience in a sales, retail, or customer service role, preferably in a health food store, supplement store, or similar environment is preferred but not required
• Experience providing nutritional advice or counseling is a significant advantage.

Skills & Competencies:

• Exceptional Nutritional Knowledge: Strong understanding of macronutrients, micronutrients, dietary guidelines, and common health conditions.
• Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to explain complex nutritional information clearly and concisely to a diverse customer base.
• Strong Sales Acumen: Proven ability to identify customer needs, recommend products, and close sales in a consultative manner.
• Customer-Focused: Genuine desire to help customers achieve their health goals and provide outstanding service.
• Proactive & Self-Motivated: Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Interpersonal Skills: Friendly, approachable, and professional demeanor.
• Retail Proficiency: Familiarity with POS systems, inventory management, and merchandising principles.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periods.
