Commercial Solar Designer - Remote, Phillipines based

As a dedicated solar energy and energy storage business, ZEN designs, sells and installs systems built on world leading solar energy products.

Due to business continued growth, we are looking for an dynamic and experienced Commercial Solar Designer to join our team and further enhance ZEN's technical capability in the commercial and off-grid markets. This job is based in the Phillipines.

The Commercial Solar Designer is responsible for the design, estimation and integration of commercial solar energy systems, ensuring high-quality and cost-effective solutions.

Additionally this role involves supervising and mentoring junior designers, driving continuous improvement, and leveraging technical expertise to enhance the company's solar energy design capabilities.

Essential:

·       Strong electrical engineering and technical knowledge of solar energy products, including solar panels, inverters and batteries.

·       Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field

·       A minimum of 5 years of experience commercial PV design experience (Australia/New Zealand preferred)

·       Strong solar energy design skills, using packages such as Helioscope, Pylon and AutoCAD

·       Ability to interpret technical information and diagrams and communicate that to clients and non-technical people in an effective way

·       Exceptional written and spoken English communication skills.

The Commercial Solar Designer is responsible for a broad range of tasks, including but not limited to;

·       designing and pricing commercial solar energy systems,

·       supporting residential design teams when needed to enhance the company's solar energy design capability

·       provide best in class designs and quotes, with the highest level of service and support.

Design delivery & performance

• Develop and optimise commercial solar PV system designs and detailed design documentation, including single line diagrams, schematics, bill of materials and 'as built drawings' as required.
• Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and bill of materials (BOMs).
• Develop single-line diagrams (SLDs), layout plans, "as-built" drawings and electrical schematics for commercial PV installations.
• Review site assessments and feasibility studies to evaluate system placement, shading, and structural suitability.
• Expert use of design software such as Pylon, Helioscope and other formats including PDF, new build plans and AutoCAD.
• Adhere to company margins and sales requirements at all times, ensuring accuracy in all aspects of design and pricing whilst ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Project and Team Collaboration

• Collaborate with sales and project teams to ensure design feasibility and alignment with customer needs to provide best in class designs and quotes, with the highest level of service and support.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for commercial and complex residential projects, ensuring high-quality, compliant, and efficient designs.
• Provide supporting information for permits, approvals, and interconnection agreements with utilities and electricity retailers.
• Support the residential solar PV design team as required, helping with system layouts, electrical schematics, and permitting documentation.
• Assist in workload balancing between commercial and residential projects, ensuring design deadlines are met.

You will need to be able to provide evidence of the following;

· detailed work history specifically focus in commercial PV design

· Projects completed by yourself greater than 50Kw

· Evidence of commercial solar PV designs completed - including

o   Single line diagrams,

o   As built electrical drawing,

o   PV panel layout,

o   electrical integration

o   Generator lockouts/integration

o   C&I BESS

o   Anti-Islanding protection integration

o   Multi- inverter integration; both electrical and COMMS

o   -Examples of complex issues faced and resolved. such as - multi inverter setups, BESS integration, Generator lockouts, anti islanding protection, C&I battery storage solutions designed
