Key responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and configure ServiceNow applications and modules (Incident, Problem, Change, CMDB, Service Catalog, Knowledge).
  • Implement workflows and automations using Flow Designer, Workflow Editor, and IntegrationHub.
  • Develop server-side and client-side scripts using JavaScript and the Glide API (Business Rules, Script Includes, UI Actions, Client Scripts, Scheduled Jobs).
  • Build and maintain Service Portal pages and widgets; optimize user experience and accessibility.
  • Create and manage REST/SOAP integrations, handle authentication (OAuth, Basic, SAML) and error/pagination handling.
  • Design and enforce ACLs and role-based access control to ensure least-privilege principles.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and provide technical support and documentation.
  • Maintain release artifacts, manage Update Sets or source-controlled deployment pipelines, and participate in change/release processes.
  • Collaborate in agile ceremonies, estimate work, and deliver features on committed timelines.

Required skills and experience

  • Proven hands-on experience as a ServiceNow Developer or similar role.
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript for server-side and client-side scripting.
  • Solid understanding of ServiceNow platform concepts: CMDB, ITSM processes, scoped applications, update sets, ACLs.
  • Experience with Flow Designer, IntegrationHub, and Service Portal development.
  • Familiarity with REST/SOAP APIs, JSON/XML, and integration best practices.
  • Knowledge of authentication methods: LDAP, SAML, OAuth.
  • Ability to produce clear technical design documents and configuration documentation.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.

Preferred qualifications

  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA).
  • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD) or other relevant certifications (ITSM, ITOM, Security Operations).
  • Experience with MID Server, Discovery, Orchestration, or Event Management.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD practices and source control (Git) for ServiceNow.
  • Experience with performance tuning and platform governance.
