Role Summary:

This role is responsible for providing legal support and day to day advice for Kinrise and its businesses across a diverse range of commercial, corporate, compliance and employment relations matters. Working with and reporting directly into the General Counsel, the role will offer the right candidate the opportunity to take ownership for management of specific legal risks and governance processes and expand their knowledge to build their career by supporting the General Counsel on strategic projects.

Legal Advice and Services

• General Advice: Provide timely and commercial day to day generalist legal advice on a variety of legal risk areas and business projects. Proactively identify legal risks to the business (based on business practices or changes to laws) and assist in developing controls, strategies, and solutions to mitigate risk
• Contracts: Drafting and review across a wide range of issues, including procurement, supply, CAPEX, employment, property leases and other commercial contracts
• Drive efficiencies and transformation of Kinrise contract templates to provide practical and succinct commercial contracts and self-service automated contracts where relevant including management of Kinrise contract lifecycle management software Plexus
• General advisory work to business on contract ual rights and obligations including disputes arising from contractual relationships
• Employment Law: General advisory support to business for employment related matters such as terminations, performance management, redundancies
• Privacy: Act as Kinrise Privacy Officer to establish and monitor compliance with Australian Privacy Laws and Kinrise Privacy Policy
• Procurement: Partner with procurement to advise on contractual matters and supply terms and conditions
• Legal Onboarding: Deliver onboarding support for all new starters in business to ensure all aware of key legal processes, laws and policies
• Marketing Review and advice: Support General Counsel ( GC ) on Kinrise marketing approvals process including supporting business teams on influencer briefs, agreements, licensing arrangements and/or brand partnerships and third-party collaborations and advising on trade promotions and associated permits and terms and conditions
• Intellectual Property: Support GC on general advisory support to the business and compliance initiatives associated with Kinrise brand protection strategy including training and compliance materials; advisory work in relation to trade marks , copyright and assistance with trade mark clearance searches
• Consumer Complaints: Support consumer representative and operation managers with drafting of responses to consumers re safety or legal concerns including development and delivery of training on internal teams on legal risks and management

Compliance Management

• Support GC in ensuring compliance with Australian Consumer and Competition Laws including:
• Review and approval of digital marketing and advice to social marketing team
• Review and approval of packaging artworks
• Support GC in design, development and roll out of new Kinrise Compliance Program including development of training materials for legal and safety teams ( e.g. anti - bribery, consumer law, competition law, chain of responsibility etc), drafting legal updates and communications in respect of legislative and regulatory changes that are relevant to Kinrise business, preparation of summary guides and support administration of internal SALT training for all new starters
• Research legislative and regulatory changes (environment, food safety, manufacturing, grocery code, etc.) and advise of new or changing compliance responsibilities and requirements
• Assist with developing and, where appropriate, implementing company policies, procedures and guidelines in line with current laws and regulations and monitoring and reviewing for updates

Team Contribution

• Manage Legal intranet and general administration support to GC and legal team

Requirements
Skills and competencies:

• Strong analytical mind and problem-solving skills, able to interpret legal, regulatory policy and propose pragmatic solutions
• Strong communication and drafting skills, able to draft clear and pragmatic advice and commercial contracts and other legal documents
• Strong and proven experience in drafting and negotiation of commercial contracts
• Strong communication and partnering skills; able to engage and build relationships across all levels of seniority and communicate legal issues clearly and succinctly
• Able to work autonomously and effectively manage time and deliver against multiple projects and priorities in a fast moving environment, providing regular updates and escalating issues as appropriate
• Able to work as part of a team; willingness to learn; live the company values and lead for purpose

Experience:

• Five or more years ' post admission experience at a law firm or in a commercial legal department- experience in house at an FMCG (or similar) is preferred but not essential and law firm experience in relevant practice areas including corporate and commercial also highly desirable
• A working understanding of contract, commercial, employment and IP law and consumer and competition law
• Exposure to risk and compliance management frameworks and protocols (desirable)

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Laws or equivalent tertiary education
• Current, unrestricted practising certificate.
