Job Brief
We are seeking an experienced and driven Management Accountant to bring structure, clarity, and expert oversight to our national operations. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, this is a hands-on role where you will be trusted to manage financial reporting, compliance, and team support across multiple entities. From BAS, FBT, Tax, and Payroll to supporting Accounting Officers, you will play a critical role in maintaining accuracy and ensuring compliance within our growing organisation.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and review the preparation of BAS and FBT returns, ensuring timely and accurate compliance.
- Provide oversight and support for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, ensuring correct processing and allocation across multiple entities.
- Guide and support Accounting Officers in day-to-day transaction reviews and accounting practices.
- Maintain high-quality working papers and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and transparency.
- Support fortnightly payroll processing and collaborate with HR on payroll accuracy.
- Monitor intercompany transactions and ensure they are treated correctly in line with best practices.
- Use and optimise key systems, including Xero (accounting) and FoundU (payroll).
- Partner with the Financial Controller on forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis to inform strategic decisions.
- Continuously seek improvements in reporting accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
Requirements:
- A degree in Accounting.
- CPA or CA qualified, or near completion of qualifications.
- 4–5 years' experience in accounting roles (industry or public practice).
- Strong reconciliation, reporting, and documentation skills.
- Experience with, or ability to quickly learn, Xero and other accounting/payroll systems.
- Ability to manage complexity in a multi-entity environment.
- High attention to detail and commitment to delivering accurate results.
- Self-motivated and well-organised, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Desirable:
- Previous experience in a national business or multi-entity accounting environment.
- Experience supporting or leading small finance teams.
- Proven experience driving continuous improvement within financial processes and systems.
Software Proficiency:
- Xero (essential)
- FoundU (or similar payroll systems)
- Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA or CA certification (or in the process of completing).
Personal Attributes:
- Strong communication skills with a professional and neutral accent.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in financial reporting.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate complex, multi-entity environments.
- Self-motivated and proactive, with a positive attitude towards continuous improvement.
- Collaborative and supportive team player, willing to mentor and work closely with Accounting Officers and cross-functional colleagues.
- Confident working in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines and priorities.
Time Zone: Australian Business Hours
