Import & Logistics Manager

Purpose:

Oversee end-to-end inbound logistics and importation activities, ensuring timely and cost-efficient delivery of goods from international vendors to the company's distribution centers. The role manages import documentation, customs compliance, vendor performance, and freight coordination, with strong knowledge of international trade regulations, duties, and taxes across different countries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and monitor the entire importation process, from purchase order release to customs clearance and warehouse delivery.
  • Supervise preparation and submission of all import documentation (commercial invoices, packing lists, bill of lading, COO, etc.) to ensure accuracy and compliance with customs regulations.
  • Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and shipping lines to ensure smooth clearance and on-time arrival of goods.
  • Maintain familiarity with applicable taxes, tariffs, and duties across multiple countries and ensure correct computation of landed costs.
  • Evaluate and optimize freight cost, routing, and carrier selection for efficiency and savings.
  • Track and report on shipment status, proactively resolving any transit or clearance issues.
  • Ensure full compliance with import/export laws, BOC (Bureau of Customs) regulations, and company policies.
  • Collaborate with Finance to verify landed cost computation, duty payments, and vendor billing accuracy.
  • Analyze vendor and logistics partner performance, maintaining KPIs on timeliness, cost, and service quality.
  • Support process improvements and digital initiatives to streamline logistics visibility and documentation flow.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Customs Administration, Supply Chain, or related field; Licensed Customs Broker preferred.
  • 5–8 years of experience in importation and logistics management, preferably within retail, distribution, or FMCG sectors.
  • Demonstrated expertise in customs procedures, taxes, duties, and trade compliance across multiple countries.
  • Strong understanding of INCO terms, HS codes, and shipping documentation.
  • Proficient in MS Office, and familiar with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle) and logistics tracking tools.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and coordination skills, with strong problem-solving ability.
