GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:
He/she is responsible for minimizing risk of transmission of pathogenic or infectious microorganisms by implementing, monitoring, and evaluating the Infection Control and Surveillance plan and policies of the hospital. Investigates, controls, and conducts surveillance activities to prevent spread of infectious diseases. Educates employees on the policies and procedures related to the infection control.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Formulate/ update Infection Control policies, guidelines and procedures.
Define and develops Infection Control Standards in the hospital.
Plan, develop and facilitate lectures on Infection Control.
Ensure availability of resources and contingencies for Infection Control program.
Disseminate the necessary information and coordinate with medical, nursing, administration, other hospital committees and other appropriate government agencies.
Oversee the performance of the Infection Control team.
Surveillance on the infectious diseases in the health institution.
Conduct and document surveillance activities.
Coordinate with the Infectious Disease Section, Microbiology Laboratory and Administration, as well as other departments, about known or suspected cases of notifiable/reportable infectious disease, food poisoning and other significant infections such as Multi Drug Resistance Organism (MDRO).
Monitor and report to DOH Notifiable and Reportable Diseases on a daily or weekly basis.
Investigate and initiate appropriate responses to incidents or outbreaks of infections, assess risks of infection and recommends allocation of resources for investigation, management and control.
Respond to urgent problems of infection control through a 24-hour emergency referral system.
Ensure adequate, accurate, and timely reporting and feedback of information to concerned areas/unit.
Propose resource requirement for the program and any contingencies.
Develop IC training modules, organizes the relevant education and training programs for all health care staff and encourages reflexive practice of infection control measures.
Monitor compliance to infection control policies, guidelines and procedures.
Give advice on the procurement of medical equipment, drugs/medicines and supplies.
Oversee any construction within hospital premises that will inhibit any harm to the patient.
Participate in the planning and design of plant facilities critical to infection control, i.e. renovations, repairs, relocation of critical areas.
Recommend/propose actions which may have implications for for infection control in the hospital.
Conduct surveillance on HAI's (Healthcare Associate Infection).
Ensure that standards of Infection Control are in accordance with the recommendation of CDC, WHO and DOH.
Give bedside teachings regarding infection control standards to HCWs ( Health Care Workers)
Give infection control health teachings to patients and relatives such as the need for isolation precaution.
Attend conventions, seminars, conferences, meetings for updates on infection control practices.
Make rounds to all areas of The Premier Medical Center and ensures compliance to infection control standards.
Conduct surveys on health condition and wellness of food handlers in dietary department and concessionaires/ restaurants with in the medical center.
Plan, schedule and facilitate ICC meetings at least quarterly and whenever necessary.
Performs other tasks when the needs arise.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS STANDARD:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing with active PRC License
- At least 2 Year(s) of work experience in maintaining safety and infection control system.
- Knowledgeable on Philippines and international Infection Prevention and Control Standard.
- Required Skill(s): MS Office; above satisfactory oral and written communication skills; interpersonal skills; good planning & organizing skills, and leadership skills.
