Job Purpose:

The Cost Engineer is responsible for the planning, control, and monitoring of project costs and budgets. They provide cost estimating, budgeting, and cost control functions, ensuring that the project is completed within the approved financial constraints. The role involves analyzing cost data, tracking project expenses, and identifying areas for cost-saving improvements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Focus on using technical knowledge to forecast expenses for all phases of the project accurately.

Create a budget that includes time, materials, labor costs, and method.

Collect and analyze data and information in order to estimate costs associated with manufacturing a product

Works proactively towards cost target objectives in collaboration with others.

Provide efficient and competitive cost estimates for fabrication projects

Manage and monitor cost of assigned projects

Validate and approve primary BOM with respect to the approved cost estimate

Post audit for each completed projects vs cost estimate

Coordinates with purchasing on material/job out sourcing

Negotiate through purchasing to secure competitive raw material cost based on volume

Other task/duties that may be assigned from time to time

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or related field.
  • Certification in cost engineering or project management (e.g., AACE, PMI) is a plus.
  • Experience:
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in cost engineering, project controls, or construction project management.
  • Experience with cost estimation software and project management tools (e.g., Primavera, MS Project).
  • Skills:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in cost estimation, budgeting, and financial forecasting.
  • Knowledge of construction contracts, procurement processes, and project delivery methods.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

  • Willing to do Fieldwork if needed in the project

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proactive, with a focus on achieving cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time on-site

This role is essential for ensuring that project costs are controlled and that financial resources are utilized efficiently to complete projects within scope and budget.
