Position Summary:

The Accounting Supervisor oversees the company's accounting operations for construction projects, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and timely processing of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and project-related costs. This role supervises the accounting team and coordinates with project managers to maintain proper financial control over projects.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Supervision & Team Management

  • Supervise and guide the accounting staff in daily operations
  • Assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide coaching
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of reports

2. Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Review and approve invoices, billings, and payments
  • Monitor client accounts and follow up on overdue payments
  • Coordinate with project teams to validate project-related expenses

3. Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Analyze project costs, overheads, and variances
  • Ensure proper allocation of project costs and retention tracking

4. Compliance & Auditing

  • Ensure compliance with local accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies
  • Prepare supporting documentation for audits
  • Monitor VAT, withholding taxes, and other statutory requirements

5. Budgeting & Cost Control

  • Assist in project budgeting and cost monitoring
  • Coordinate with project managers to track budget vs. actual expenses
  • Provide insights for cost optimization

6. Coordination

  • Liaise with project managers, HR, and procurement teams for accurate financial tracking
  • Communicate financial status, risks, and recommendations to management

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Finance, or related field
  • 3–5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in the construction or project-based industry
  • Strong knowledge of accounting software (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks, XERO or similar)
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and supervisory skills
  • Knowledge of tax and statutory compliance
