Job Summary:

The Import Specialist will be responsible for overseeing and managing the end-to-end importation process of agricultural and feedmill raw materials and equipment. This includes compliance with regulatory requirements, coordination with suppliers and logistics providers, and ensuring timely and cost-efficient delivery. The role requires a detail-oriented professional with expertise in international trade, customs regulations, and agri-industrial supply chain dynamics.


Key Responsibilities:

Import Operations & Compliance

  • Coordinate the importation of farm and feedmill equipment, ingredients, and raw materials such as grains, premixes, vitamins, minerals, and machinery.
  • Prepare, review, and manage import documentation (LCs, BLs, COO, commercial invoices, packing lists, etc.).
  • Ensure compliance with national (e.g., BOC, DA, BAI, BIR) and international trade and regulatory requirements.
  • Apply for and monitor permits (e.g., SPS Import Clearance, VAT Exemption Certificates, Import Entry Declarations).
  • Manage tariff classification, duty computation, and tax exemption processes.

Supplier & Logistics Coordination

  • Liaise with foreign suppliers, customs brokers, and freight forwarders to ensure timely shipment and delivery.
  • Monitor shipment schedules, track cargo status, and resolve any delays or issues.
  • Optimize shipping methods and routes to reduce cost and improve delivery efficiency.

Inventory & Cost Management

  • Work closely with procurement and warehouse teams to manage inventory flow and prevent overstocking or stockouts.
  • Evaluate landed cost, cost implications of duties/taxes, and propose savings strategies.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate import logs and documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
  • Generate regular reports on import status, cost, lead times, and supplier performance.

Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Customs Administration, Agriculture, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 3–5 years in importation, preferably in the agricultural or feedmill industry.
  • Certifications: Licensed Customs Broker is an advantage; knowledge of PEZA, VAT exemption, or BAI/DA regulations is a plus.

Skills & Competencies:
  • In-depth knowledge of import regulations, Incoterms, HS codes, and trade documentation.
  • Strong negotiation and coordination skills with suppliers and logistics providers.
  • Proficiency in using ERP systems and MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving in logistics and customs bottlenecks.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
