Mandatory Schedule & Certifications
- Must be willing to work from Mondays to Saturdays due to the nature of business operations.
- Preferably certified as a Safety Officer Level 3 (SO3) with at least 3 years of related experience in Manufacturing, FMCG, or Logistics
- Exposure to Pollution Control Officer (PCO) Accreditation from DENR.
- Certified in First Aid Training and Basic Life Support (BLS) (e.g., Red Cross or relevant institutions).
- Certified in Fire Safety Training or Fire Marshal Training.
- Certified in Emergency Preparedness and Response Training.
The Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Officer ensures that all operations, facilities, and personnel comply with environmental, occupational health, and safety laws, standards, and internal policies. The role encompasses regulatory compliance, risk management, environmental sustainability, emergency preparedness, and facility safety. The EHS Officer leads proactive programs to reduce incidents, ensures regulatory compliance, and promotes a culture of safety and responsibility across all departments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Environment, Occupational Health & Safety
Develop, implement, and monitor EHS policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with DOLE, DENR, BFP, LGU, and other regulatory agencies.
Conduct regular workplace inspections, risk assessments, and safety audits to identify and control potential hazards.
Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe acts/conditions; determine root causes and develop corrective and preventive actions.
Conduct safety orientations, toolbox meetings, and refresher training for employees and contractors.
Ensure proper use, availability, and maintenance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Supervise compliance with chemical safety procedures and maintain updated Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
Promote health and wellness initiatives in coordination with the company nurse and HR (e.g., health declarations, first aid readiness, clinic supplies).
Lead and document monthly EHS Committee Meetings, ensuring timely closure of issues.
Coordinate with government bodies and external auditors for safety and environmental inspections.
2. Environmental Management & Pollution Control
Ensure compliance with DENR and other environmental regulations on waste management, water, and air quality.
Develop and implement waste segregation, storage, and disposal programs, ensuring the proper handling of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
Prepare and submit quarterly Self-Monitoring Reports (SMR) via the DENR portal.
Maintain all environmental permits such as Permit to Operate (Air/Water), Waste Generator ID, and PCO Accreditation.
Conduct regular environmental audits and recommend corrective actions to ensure continuous improvement.
Coordinate with accredited waste haulers for the proper transport and disposal of hazardous waste.
Lead environmental awareness campaigns and sustainability initiatives.
3. Emergency Preparedness & Response
Develop, update, and implement Emergency Preparedness and Response Plans (fire, earthquake, typhoon, medical emergencies, etc.).
Lead the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and facilitate regular drills and simulations.
Assess emergency risks and ensure readiness of all emergency systems (fire alarms, sprinklers, extinguishers, hydrants, first aid kits).
Establish communication protocols with internal teams and external responders (BFP, LGU, hospitals, law enforcement).
Coordinate with external agencies during actual emergencies or post-incident assessments.
4. Facility & Fleet Safety Management
Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of all plant facilities and grounds; ensure safe working conditions in production, warehouse, and logistics areas.
Conduct periodic facility inspections (restrooms, utility areas, storage spaces, and common areas) to ensure compliance with hygiene and safety standards.
Supervise the maintenance and compliance of fire protection systems, HVAC, mechanical, and electrical systems.
Identify and address safety hazards related to facilities, vehicles, and equipment operations.
Conduct fleet inspections to ensure vehicle roadworthiness and compliance with company safety policies.
Investigate vehicular incidents and recommend corrective and preventive measures.
Maintain updated records of inspections, repairs, and certificates of compliance.
5. Administrative Compliance
Ensure timely renewal and safekeeping of all regulatory permits and licenses (DENR, DOLE, BFP, NWRB, LGU).
Represent the company during coordination meetings with regulatory agencies and local government units.
Prepare EHS performance reports and submit them to the Branch Manager and Head Office.
Maintain accurate documentation of all safety audits, incident reports, and compliance certificates.
Serve as Nodal Officer for the branch's Business Continuity Plan (BCP) and lead periodic reviews and simulations.
MINOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Other tasks, and/or projects may be assigned depending on business needs and organizations' direction.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
- The effective performance of the position requires that harmonious and productive working relationships are developed and maintained throughout different departments and across the professional and administrative structure of the Company, and with external stakeholders. This position's internal rapport should include Production, Warehouse & Logistics, Back Office Team, and HR.
