About the Role – People and Culture Specialist (Payroll and HR)

The People and Culture Specialist (Payroll and HR) will play a vital part in delivering an outstanding employee experience by supporting all aspects of payroll, onboarding, and people administration. This role partners with the business to ensure efficient, accurate, and compliant payroll processes, as well as contributing to a positive workplace culture, aligned to our company values of Respect, Honesty, Integrity, Customer Centricity, Innovation, and Passion.

Key Responsibilities – Payroll Administration & Process Excellence
  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing for all employees in compliance with relevant awards, legislation, and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records, ensuring data integrity across all HR and payroll systems.
  • Process new starters, terminations, and employee changes accurately and on time.
  • Address employee payroll and time & attendance queries with efficiency and professionalism.
  • Collaborate with managers to ensure timely submission and approval of timesheets and leave requests.
  • Assist in the configuration, testing, and implementation of payroll system updates and integrations.
  • Support month-end and year-end payroll processes, including the preparation of reports and reconciliations.
HR and People Support – Culture and Experience
  • Assist with the administration of the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, contracts, variations, and offboarding documentation.
  • Ensure all HR files and systems are maintained and compliant, updating employee records as required.
  • Answer employee enquiries related to policies, entitlements, and benefits, providing accurate information at all times.
  • Support the coordination and delivery of employee engagement initiatives, training, and wellbeing activities.
  • Work collaboratively with the greater People and Culture team on projects that enhance the employee experience.
  • Uphold the company's values by fostering an inclusive, trusted, and innovative work environment.
Stakeholder Engagement – Collaboration & Communication
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, managers, and external providers.
  • Communicate clearly and openly, demonstrating respect, confidentiality, and integrity.
  • Champion a customer-centric approach in all internal and external interactions.
  • Seek feedback to drive continuous improvement across People and Culture processes.
Work Health and Safety – Safe & Supportive Workplace
  • Actively support and demonstrate positive safety behaviours.
  • Comply with all WHS policies, training, and reporting obligations.
  • Identify and help resolve risks to maintain a safe working environment for all.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience – What You Will Bring
  • Previous experience in a payroll, HR administration, or people operations role.
  • Solid understanding of payroll systems, processes, and relevant employment legislation.
  • High standard of accuracy and attention to detail with confidential information.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and HR/payroll systems (experience with KeyPay, MicrOpay, or similar highly regarded).
  • Strong organisational and time management skills; able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team as well as independently.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and solutions-focused approach to work.
