The Yayoi Kitchen Staff is responsible for preparing, cooking, and plating food items in accordance with the restaurant's quality and safety standards. This role supports the kitchen operations to ensure timely and consistent production of Japanese dishes, while maintaining cleanliness and order in the work area.

  • Prepare ingredients and assist in cooking menu items based on standard recipes and portion sizes
  • Ensure food items are cooked and presented according to Yayoi quality standards
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, utensils, and equipment at all times
  • Follow proper food handling, safety, and hygiene procedures (HACCP practices)
  • Monitor stock levels of ingredients and supplies and report shortages to the kitchen supervisor
  • Assist in receiving, checking, and storing deliveries properly
  • Follow opening and closing procedures for kitchen operations
  • Work efficiently to meet food preparation timelines, especially during peak hours
  • Support other kitchen stations (grill, fryer, tempura, etc.) as needed
  • Dispose of waste properly and comply with local health regulations
  • Communicate effectively with FOH staff to ensure smooth service

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School graduate or equivalent; vocational training in culinary is an advantage
  • With or without experience (experience in Japanese or casual dining is a plus)
  • Willing to learn and adapt to Japanese kitchen standards and food preparation
  • Hardworking, disciplined, and able to work under pressure
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
  • Physically fit and able to stand for long hours
  • Willing to work on shifts, weekends, and holidays
