Job description

The Optometrist is responsible for performing comprehensive eye examinations to detect vision problems, ocular diseases, and other eye-related health issues. The role includes prescribing corrective lenses, recommending treatments, and referring patients to ophthalmologists or other specialists when necessary. The Optometrist ensures the highest quality of patient care in line with professional standards and organizational policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive eye and vision examinations for patients.
  • Diagnose vision problems such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, and presbyopia.
  • Detect and manage eye conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.
  • Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other visual aids as needed.
  • Provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing eye surgery.
  • Educate patients on eye health, preventive care, and proper use of corrective lenses.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, including examination results, prescriptions, and treatment plans.
  • Refer patients to ophthalmologists or other healthcare professionals for advanced treatment when required.
  • Stay updated on advancements in optometry, vision science, and optical technology.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and professional practice standards.

Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Valid professional license to practice optometry.
  • Proven experience as an Optometrist is an advantage.
  • Strong diagnostic, clinical, and patient care skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to patient satisfaction.

Working Conditions:

  • Clinic or optical center environment.
  • May require weekend or holiday schedules depending on clinic operations.

Work Schedule:

  • Six days duty, one day rest day
