Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough eye examinations to assess visual acuity and overall eye health.
  • Diagnose and manage a range of ocular conditions, including refractive errors, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy.
  • Prescribe corrective lenses, eye procedure and other optical aids based on patient needs.
  • Educate patients on eye health, vision correction options, and proper care of eye procedure and surgery..
  • Refer patients to ophthalmologists or other specialists for advanced treatment when necessary.
  • Provide follow-up care and monitor patients' progress for ongoing conditions or treatments.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including examination results, treatment plans, and prescriptions.
  • Utilize and maintain optometric equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
  • Keep abreast of advancements in optometry, attending continuing education courses and workshops as required.

Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited optometry school.
  • Valid state licensure to practice optometry; board certification is preferred.
  • Previous clinical experience, including internships or residency, is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and staff.
  • Proficiency in the use of optometric equipment and technology.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to providing high-quality patient care.
