On-Call Optometrist

Job description:

The On-Call Optometrist will provide professional eye care services during scheduled medical missions. The role involves conducting eye examinations, diagnosing vision problems, prescribing corrective lenses, and providing patient education. The optometrist will work closely with the medical mission team to ensure quality and accessible eye care for patients in underserved communities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive eye examinations to assess vision and detect eye conditions.
• Diagnose refractive errors and prescribe eyeglasses or corrective lenses.
• Provide consultation and referral for patients requiring further ophthalmologic care.
• Educate patients on proper eye care, prevention, and treatment of common eye conditions.
• Coordinate with medical mission staff to ensure efficient patient flow and documentation.
• Maintain accurate patient records and assist in distributing prescribed eyeglasses when available.
• Uphold professional and ethical standards in providing optometric care.

Qualifications:

• Licensed Optometrist with valid PRC license.
• Preferably with prior experience in community work, outreach programs, or medical missions.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Compassionate and patient-centered approach.
• Flexible and able to work in diverse locations and challenging environments.

Work Arrangement:

• On-call basis depending on medical mission schedules.
• Travel to assigned mission areas as required.
• Compensation and benefits will be provided per engagement.
