Accounting Supervisor

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Finance and Accounting Supervisor to join the dynamic team at Chelsea Shipping Corp.. In this full-time position, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the company's financial reporting, accounting operations, and strategic financial initiatives.

What you'll be doing

• Oversee and manage monthly financial statement close process including preparation and communication of calendars, close progression and acting as the primary point person for related inquiries.
• Review Accounts Payable Vouchers and attest to the correctness of information including, but not limited to, name of payee, due dates, accounting entries, amounts and withholding tax rates used.
• Review of accounting entries for corporate transactions, account reconciliations and fluctuation analysis.
• Review monthly, quarterly and annual tax reports including withholding tax returns, VAT returns and income tax returns.
• Maintain integrity of individual financial statement account balances in connection with Management & SEC reporting reviews.
• Prepare financial statements and statutory reporting packages supported by discussions and analyses on significant variances to assist management in making sound business decisions.
• Coordinate and review group and corporate intercompany eliminations and reconciliations. Ensure compliance with group corporate structure and alignment of the Group's policies and procedures.
• Record and manage disposition of top-side entries.
• Participate as a key stakeholder in all ERP-related activities such as changes to the group chart of accounts, sets of books, entity reporting hierarchies, user access (security), consolidation mappings and other processes/controls.
• Play a key role in group financial and accounting process/policy improvements.
• Establish continuous monitoring controls, process/policy documentation and group checklists.
• Coordinate external audits and examinations by regulatory bodies.
• Respond to auditor inquiries, manage audit schedules, and ensure audit readiness.
• Special projects, as required.
• Prepare budgeting reports and revenue forecast
• Performs other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the immediate superior.

What we're looking for

• A bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
• Certified Public Accountant
• At least 3 years of experience in a large accounting firm or commercial setting, with strong skills in financial reporting, general accounting, month-end close, consolidations, controls, financial statement preparation, internal reporting, and collaboration with external auditors.
• Proficiency in financial reporting, budgeting, and cash flow management
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide strategic recommendations
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams
• Thorough understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and internal control best practices
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to mentor and develop a team
