We are seeking a highly skilled Senior CAD Designer with 5–10+ years of experience producing shop drawings for architectural lighting or a closely related technical field. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a detailed, technical environment and can independently produce precise, well-organized drawing sets for lighting projects.

This is not a general CAD drafter position—we need someone who already understands the nuances of lighting systems, architectural detailing, and coordination with the broader construction ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce high-quality shop drawings for architectural lighting projects, including detailed sections, mounting methods, wiring diagrams, and installation details.
  • Create and maintain AutoCAD drawing sets, blocks, templates, and detail libraries.
  • Interpret and extract relevant information from architectural, electrical, and reflected ceiling plans.
  • Work closely with sales reps, contractors, engineers, and product managers to clarify requirements and ensure drawings meet project specifications.
  • Review technical information for accuracy, completeness, and constructability.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining clear communication in a remote work environment.
  • Take full ownership of deliverables, timelines, and drawing quality.

Required Qualifications

  • 5–10+ years producing shop drawings in architectural lighting or a related technical industry.
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Downlights
  • Low-voltage track systems
  • Drivers and control gear
  • Mounting methods
  • Wiring diagrams and installation details
  • Expert-level proficiency in AutoCAD, including:
  • Full drawing set creation
  • Block creation and management
  • Template setup
  • Detail library development
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and electrical plans with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Experience coordinating with reps, contractors, engineers, or product teams.
  • Ability to work independently with excellent communication, ownership, and reliability.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Lighting calculation tools such as AGi32 or Dialux.
  • Experience with Revit for BIM workflows.
  • Familiarity with mechanical design tools (e.g., SolidWorks or Inventor).
  • Background in manufacturing environments, especially with:
  • Extrusions
  • Tolerances
  • Assembly processes
