Job Summary
A General Accountant is responsible for handling a range of accounting tasks to ensure the financial health and compliance of Leslie Corporation - Food Service Division. This role involves maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, and ensuring that all financial operations align with local and international accounting standards. The General Accountant also assists with tax reporting, account reconciliations, and supports audits as needed.
Main Duties, Responsibilities
Financial Recording and Reporting:
- Maintain and update the general ledger to ensure the accurate recording of financial transactions.
- Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Generate financial reports to provide insights for management decision-making.
Account Reconciliation:
- Perform regular reconciliations of bank accounts to verify accuracy.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
- Reconcile intercompany accounts as necessary.
Journal Entries and Adjustments
- Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring all transactions are properly documented.
- Handle accruals, deferrals, and other adjusting entries during month-end and year-end closures.
- Verify the accuracy and completeness of financial data recorded in the system.
Tax Compliance:
- Assist in the preparation and submission of tax returns, including VAT, withholding tax, and income tax.
- Ensure compliance with the Philippines' Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) regulations.
- Stay updated on changes in tax laws and implement necessary adjustments.
Accounts Payable and Receivable
- Monitor and process payments to suppliers, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Manage accounts receivable functions, including generating invoices and following up on payments.
- Reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable balances monthly.
Internal Controls and Audit Support:
- Implement and maintain internal control systems to safeguard assets.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to audit queries.
- Ensure adherence to company policies and accounting standards
Budget and Financial Analysis
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and monitor expenditures to ensure alignment with financial plans.
- Analyze financial performance and provide variance analysis reports.
- Collaborate with management to develop financial strategies and forecasts.
Operational and Admin Tasks
- Record daily financial transactions and maintain organized financial records.
- Assist with the preparation of cash flow forecasts and management reports.
- Track fixed assets and maintain accurate depreciation schedules.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll-related journal entries.
- Review expense reports and verify compliance with company policies.
- Prepare and maintain accurate supporting documents for all transactions.
- Handle inquiries from vendors and clients regarding payment and billing.
- Participate in special projects related to financial system upgrades or process improvements.
Job Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certification is required.
- Experience: 2-4 years of relevant accounting experience, ideally within the Philippine market.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and advanced MS Excel skills.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of Philippine Financial Reporting Standards (PFRS) and local tax regulations.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and keen attention to detail in financial data entry and reporting.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret financial data and make informed recommendations.
- Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with team members, clients, and regulatory bodies.
- Organizational Skills: Strong ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
