Summary/Objective: The Director of Revenue Cycle will oversee daily operations of the revenue cycle, including coding, billing, payment posting, accounts receivable, workers' compensation, medical records, and disability management. The role focuses on maximizing cash flow, ensuring accurate billing, enhancing satisfaction, and strategically managing revenue, including negotiation and management of Managed Care Contracts in an orthopedic setting.

Essential Job Functions:Oversees coding, billing, payment posting, AR follow-up, denial management, and reimbursement processes. Leads and manages onshore and offshore revenue cycle staff, including hiring, training, performance evaluation, and motivation. Collaborates with the CEO and COO to streamline processes and improve operational efficiency.

Reports directly to the COO.Monitors departmental KPIs to meet or exceed industry standards. Provides training and education to staff and healthcare providers. Identifies and resolves issues impacting the revenue cycle promptly.

Manages denial management and appeals processes. Ensures compliance with payer policies, regulations, and standards like HIPAA and OSHA.Ensures accurate and timely month-end closing processes. Conducts internal reviews for continuous improvement and compliance.

Manages revenue cycle projects and initiatives. Coordinates audits related to billing practices. Implements improvements based on audit outcomes.Leads strategic revenue initiatives, including negotiation of Managed Care Contracts.

Analyzes payer contracts for compliance and reimbursement optimization. Serves as liaison with payer representatives for contract issues and negotiations. Develops strategies to optimize payer relationships and revenue.

Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements:Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business, or related field; CPC certification preferred. Minimum 10 years in revenue cycle management; 7+ years in medical billing; EPIC experience preferred; orthopedic or surgical practice experience advantageous.

Extensive Managed Care Contract experience required. Knowledge of Illinois Medicaid Managed Care and other states' Medicaid programs preferred. Flexibility in schedule; occasional travel required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Deep knowledge of billing, coding, compliance, and regulations. Proficient in EHR and practice management systems, especially EPIC.Understanding of orthopedic terminology and procedures. Strong organizational, multitasking, and analytical skills.

Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills. Data analysis skills; proficient in Excel and reporting tools. Ability to interpret medical documentation accurately.

High productivity and accuracy in a fast-paced environment. Mental/Physical Requirements:Primarily sedentary; about 90% computer-based work. Ability to focus in a high-paced environment.
