Position Overview:

We are looking for a highly experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant / Payroll Specialist with at least 5 years of solid payroll experience, particularly within the Australian accounting and compliance landscape. This senior-level position requires deep expertise in Xero and Microsoft Excel, strong knowledge of Australian tax and labor laws, and the ability to manage end-to-end accounting functions with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

· Lead the preparation and execution of Australian payroll including superannuation, PAYG withholding, and STP reporting with high accuracy and timeliness.

· Manage end-to-end bookkeeping activities including bank reconciliations, AP/AR, general ledger maintenance, and month-end/year-end closing.

· Oversee the preparation and lodgment of BAS, IAS, and other statutory requirements in compliance with Australian standards.

· Provide financial reports and insights to support management decisions.

· Maintain well-organized documentation and filing systems, ensuring all records are up-to-date and audit-ready.

· Handle client communication and provide clear, concise responses to accounting and payroll inquiries.

· Support the onboarding of junior team members, where applicable, and serve as a subject matter expert in payroll and compliance.

· Review credit applications, maintain supplier relations, and assist in ad hoc administrative support.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

· Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience with extensive exposure to Australian payroll and compliance.

· Proficiency in Xero and Microsoft Excel is a must.

· Advanced knowledge of Australian accounting principles, tax regulations, and payroll legislation.

· High attention to detail and a proven track record of minimizing errors in financial transactions and payroll.

· Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently under tight deadlines.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Experience with other cloud-based accounting systems such as MYOB or QuickBooks (Australian versions).

· Exposure to multi-client accounting environments or professional services settings.
