Job Summary

The Legal Associate will play a key support role within TrustBridge's global legal team, assisting the International Legal Adviser and Gift Planning Attorney. This role focuses on regulatory compliance, contracts management, legal research, and day-to-day legal operations. The Legal Associate will ensure TrustBridge's entities and activities operate in compliance with applicable laws while supporting the efficient drafting, review, and management of agreements and policies.

This position requires strong analytical and organizational skills, a high level of integrity, and the ability to work across multiple jurisdictions in a multicultural environment.

Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Compliance

Monitor and track compliance with applicable nonprofit, charity, and cross-border giving laws and regulations.

Assist with the preparation and filing of corporate governance documents and regulatory reports.

Support internal audits and compliance reviews.

  • Contracts Management

Draft, review, and manage contracts, agreements, and MOUs with donors, partners, and vendors.

Maintain an organized contracts database and track deadlines and renewal dates.

Ensure standard templates and processes are consistently applied.

  • Legal Research & Advisory Support

Conduct legal research on nonprofit, charity, employment, and data protection laws in relevant jurisdictions.

Provide concise summaries and recommendations to the International Legal Adviser.

Assist in preparing internal guidance notes, policies, and training materials.

  • Litigation & External Counsel Coordination

Support the management of legal disputes and coordinate with outside counsel as directed.

Assist in gathering documentation, evidence, and records for external legal matters.

  • Corporate Hygiene & Administrative Support

Ensure proper record-keeping of corporate documents, board resolutions, and compliance filings.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of TrustBridge policies and procedures.

Provide general support to the International Legal Adviser and Gift Planning Attorney as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

  • Solid understanding of legal principles and nonprofit/charity law.
  • Strong skills in contract drafting, review, and negotiation.
  • Familiarity with cross-border giving and regulatory compliance preferred.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • High-level written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); experience with legal management software a plus.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE

  • Law degree (J.D. or equivalent) required.
  • Bar admission.
  • 3–5 years of experience in legal, compliance, or contracts roles (preferably in nonprofit, corporate, or international contexts).
  • Experience in law firm, nonprofit sector, philanthropy, or international organizations strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with cross-border teams and multiple stakeholders.
