Electrical Estimator

Job Brief

We are seeking a detail-oriented Design & Construct Estimator to support a well-established commercial electrical contractor. The successful candidate will work closely with the Senior Estimator in Australia to assist in preparing accurate cost estimates, gathering project documentation, and supporting the end-to-end quoting process. This role is ideal for someone with strong analytical skills, experience in design and electrical estimating, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and interpret project documentation including architectural drawings, electrical plans, and specifications
• Perform quantity take-offs and measurements using estimating software.
• Request and collate supplier and subcontractor quotations as required
• Assist in preparing bill of quantities and cost estimates for commercial electrical projects
• Liaise with the Senior Estimator in Australia to ensure accuracy and completeness of quotes
• Support preparation of final tender documentation and submission packs
• Provide administrative and documentation support as needed during the pre-construction phase

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in estimating in electrical contracting
• Strong understanding of Australian Standards (AS:3000) & construction project processes & documentation.
• Proficient with Groundplan and Microsoft Excel
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong organisational and time-management skills

Desirable

• Experience working with Australian construction projects
• Familiarity with Australian building codes and commercial tendering processes
• Experience supporting remote teams

Software Proficiency

• Microsoft Office 365 incl. Excel and Word (Advanced)
• Estimating/take-off tools such as Groundplan or similar
• OneDrive (Teams, Planner, etc)
• Project management or CRM tools (e.g. SimPRO) is advantageous

Education

• Degree or diploma in Construction Management, Electrical Trade or Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field preferred.
