The R&D Officer is responsible for developing, improving, and testing personal care and cosmetic products that meet market demands, regulatory standards, and company goals. This role involves formulation, product testing, documentation, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality product development from concept to launch.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop new formulations for skincare, haircare, personal care, and cosmetic products.
  • Improve existing formulations to enhance performance, stability, and cost efficiency.
  • Conduct raw material screening, compatibility testing, and ingredient functionality assessments.
  • Perform stability tests, microbiological assessments, and performance evaluations.
  • Conduct sensory evaluations and ensure products meet quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot formulation issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Prepare and maintain formulation records, test reports, product specifications, and batch sheets.
  • Ensure products comply with regulatory requirements (FDA)
  • Support preparation of PIF (Product Information File) and other regulatory documents.
  • Keep updated on market trends, new technologies, and raw materials in the personal care/cosmetics industry.
  • Collaborate with suppliers for new ingredient sourcing and material trials.
  • Support innovation projects and contribute ideas for new product concepts.
  • Coordinate with Production for pilot runs and scale-up trials.
  • Work closely with Quality Assurance, Marketing, and Procurement for product development alignment.
  • Assist in troubleshooting production issues related to formulation or raw materials.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy, Biology, or related field.
  • Experience in personal care or cosmetic product formulation is an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of cosmetic raw materials and formulation techniques.
  • Understanding of FDA regulations and safety requirements for cosmetics/personal care.
  • Proficient in laboratory practices, product testing, and documentation.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, and able to manage multiple projects.
