Position Summary

MIT is seeking a highly organized Bookkeeper / Accounting Specialist to support SUMURI LLC, a U.S.-based digital forensics company. The specialist will work from the MIT office in the Philippines and perform bookkeeping and financial support functions on behalf of SUMURI, operating during U.S. Eastern Standard Time (EST) hours.

This position requires strong accounting fundamentals, accuracy, and the ability to manage multiple accounts in Zoho Books while maintaining confidentiality and meeting deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Daily Transaction Entry:

Record daily transactions for American Express and Chase credit cards using Zoho Books. (Direct access credentials provided.)

  • Monthly Reconciliations:

Perform monthly reconciliations for four (4) bank accounts, three (3) credit card statements, and one (1) Stripe account. (Statements provided; no direct bank access required.)

  • Vendor Bill Processing:

Enter and process vendor bills, requiring access to the designated billing email account.

  • Financial Coordination:

Communicate regularly with the Executive VP of Operations, to ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial data and reconciliations.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Required: High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Preferred: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Bookkeeper (CB) or Certified Public Bookkeeper (CPB) are a plus.
  • Experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or finance roles preferred.
  • Familiarity with Zoho Books highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with other accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and Microsoft Excel a plus.

Skills & Competencies

  • Accounting & Financial Acumen: Understanding of accounting principles, reconciliation, and general ledger practices.
  • Technical Proficiency: Ability to use Zoho Books and manage financial data digitally (statements, invoices, PDFs).
  • Organization & Accuracy: Excellent attention to detail, able to manage multiple accounts and meet strict monthly deadlines.
  • Communication: Strong written and spoken English to collaborate effectively with the U.S.-based team.
  • Professional Integrity: Maintains confidentiality, accuracy, and accountability in all financial activities.

  • Based at the MIT office in the Philippines.
  • Works according to U.S. Eastern Standard Time (EST) business hours.
