We're hiring a hands-on Management Accountant to lead finance operations for our client, a growing engineering and project-based services group. This role ensures accurate financial management, project costing, and compliance - freeing senior leaders to focus on strategic growth.

This role will report to an Australian based client who is also the Executive Director of the company.

What You'll Do

  • Own AP, AR, bank reconciliations, BAS/IAS, and payroll reporting
  • Build and maintain project costings, WIP schedules, and margin analyses
  • Manage rolling cash flow forecasts and optimize working capital
  • Lead month-end close, reporting packs, budgets, and forecasts
  • Partner with engineers and PMs to enforce financial discipline
  • Improve finance systems and workflows (Xero, Total Synergy)

What You'll Bring

  • CPA or CA qualified
  • 5+ years' management accounting experience (engineering, construction, or project-based services preferred)
  • Proficient in Xero and MS Excel; familiarity with Total Synergy and job-costing tools a plus
  • Strong understanding of WIP, progress claims, retentions, and Australian compliance (GST, PAYG-W, super, payroll tax)
  • Commercially sharp, accurate, and fast
  • Proactive, humble, and capable of influencing teams
