
Customs Representative

The Customs Representative plays a key role in ensuring the smooth, timely, and compliant processing and release of shipments from vessels and Customs authorities. This role involves meticulous coordination of documentation, shipment tracking, damage inspection, and collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure operational efficiency and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor, update, and report on the discharge of shipments from vessels.
- Prepare, secure, and submit complete documentation required for Customs processing and shipment release.
- Plan, process, check, and monitor shipments until final delivery to the client.
- Oversee the examination of shipments and assist with Customs inspections.
- Inspect shipments, take photos/videos, and report any damages or missing packages.
- Handle documentation and processing for claims related to damaged or missing items.
- Process and secure gate passes for outgoing shipments.
- Coordinate the delivery of shipments, including truck scheduling and rotation.
- Submit invoices and official receipts to Finance for payment and record-keeping.
- Provide regular updates on shipment status to internal teams and clients.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
- Perform other related duties as may be assigned.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret shipment data and identify operational bottlenecks.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication, especially with vessel operators, port personnel, and clients.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to resolve documentation issues, delays, and shipment discrepancies efficiently.
- Adaptability: Comfortable with shifting priorities, new regulations, and process improvements.
- Teamwork: Strong ability to collaborate across departments to achieve seamless operations.
- Time Management: Efficiently manage schedules, tasks, and deadlines.
- Organizational Skills: Maintain accurate records, coordinate shipment documentation, and manage multiple operational steps simultaneously.
