The HR & Employee Relations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day human resource operations with a strong focus on employee relations, discipline management, grievance handling, retrenchment processes, and talent sourcing. This role ensures that company policies are fairly implemented, workplace issues are handled professionally, and the organization remains compliant with labor laws while maintaining a positive employee experience.

The role supervises HR staff and acts as the key point person for employee relations concerns and workforce movement.


Key Responsibilities

Employee Relations & Discipline

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations concerns, grievances, and workplace conflicts.
  • Conduct and oversee investigations related to misconduct, policy violations, and employee complaints.
  • Administer the disciplinary process including issuance of notices, conduct of administrative hearings, and documentation of case outcomes.
  • Ensure due process and fairness in all disciplinary actions.

Grievance Handling & Conflict Resolution

  • Receive, document, assess, and resolve employee grievances in a timely and impartial manner.
  • Facilitate mediation between employees and management when necessary.
  • Recommend appropriate corrective or preventive actions to management.

Retrenchment & Separation Management

  • Plan and implement retrenchment, redundancy, and workforce reduction programs in compliance with labor laws and company policies.
  • Prepare required documentation, notices, and reports for management and regulatory agencies.
  • Conduct exit interviews and ensure proper clearance and separation processes.

Talent Sourcing & Recruitment

  • Lead talent sourcing initiatives for open roles, including job postings, screening, and coordination of interviews.
  • Partner with department heads to understand manpower requirements and hiring priorities.
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of qualified candidates for current and future hiring needs.

HR Operations & Compliance

  • Ensure HR policies and procedures are consistently applied and aligned with labor regulations.
  • Prepare reports related to employee relations cases, attrition, discipline trends, and recruitment metrics.
  • Provide guidance to supervisors and managers on handling people issues and policy interpretation.

Supervision & Leadership

  • Supervise and mentor HR staff, ensuring proper execution of HR processes.
  • Recommend improvements to HR systems, policies, and employee relations programs.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Business Administration, or related field.
  • At least 5 years of HR experience, with strong exposure to employee relations and discipline management.
  • At least 1–2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Strong knowledge of labor laws, due process, and HR best practices.
  • Proven experience in grievance handling, investigations, retrenchment, and recruitment.
  • Excellent communication, judgment, documentation, and conflict resolution skills.
