Business Development Officer

The (BD) Business Development Officer will be a vital member of the business development team, working collaboratively with the Business Development Manager and other team members to drive strategic growth initiatives. The BD Officer will be responsible for market research, feasibility studies, sales forecasting, risk analysis, due diligence, and other tasks as assigned by the BD Manager or the (GBDD) Group Business Development Director. The specific KPIs will be provided upon onboarding and may evolve as business plans are finalized and approved.
Responsibilities:
Work closely with the Business Development Manager and other team members to execute business development strategies.
Conduct market research, feasibility studies, sales forecasting, risk analysis, and due diligence to support decision-making processes.
Develop and maintain client and partner relationships to drive business growth.
Provide market intelligence and insights to support strategic planning and decision-making.
Coordinate internally with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and seamless execution of business development initiatives.
Assist with ad hoc financial tasks as needed to support business development activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Educational Background
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Architecture, Construction Management,
Business Administration, or a related field
Master's degree in business administration (MBA) or relevant graduate degree is an advantage
Professional Experience:
At least 3 years of experience in business development, sales, or project acquisition and management roles, preferably within the construction, engineering, or real estate industry.
Proven track record of securing large-scale construction or infrastructure projects and in managing strategic partnerships.
Strong background in client relationship management, bidding, and tendering processes in both private and public sector projects.
Experience working with multidisciplinary teams such as Estimating, Engineering, Procurement, and Project Management.
Industry Knowledge
Deep understanding of the construction industry landscape, trends, project lifecycle, and contract types (e.g., EPC, Design & Build, Turnkey).
Familiarity with government procurement processes, regulatory compliance, and industry standards.
Knowledgeable in pre-construction, business analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Excellent negotiation, influencing, and deal-closing skills.
Strong communication and presentation abilities for client engagements and internal reporting. Strategic thinking and commercial acumen, capable of identifying new markets, partnerships, and growth opportunities.
Strong analytical skills and decision-making abilities under pressure.
Proficiency in CRM software, MS Office Suite, and project management tools.
Leadership capabilities to drive cross-functional teams and mentor junior business development staff

Certifications
PMP, CPM, or any certification in project or business management is a plus
