About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Intermediate Accountant to join our client's team in Queensland. The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of accounting experience, with strong knowledge of Australian accounting practices and compliance requirements. This role requires expertise in managing invoices, payments, reconciliations, and BAS preparation, with a high level of proficiency in Xero.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Compliance

· Prepare and lodge BAS, IAS, and other statutory returns in line with Australian regulations.

· Support month-end and year-end closing processes.

· Prepare financial reports, budgets, and cash flow statements as required.

· Collaborate with senior accountants and external auditors when needed.

Bookkeeping

· Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including accurate processing of invoices and payments.

· Perform bank, credit card, and account reconciliations.

· Maintain up-to-date and accurate financial records in Xero.

· Process and track payroll, superannuation, and leave entitlements.

· Manage bookkeeping tasks to ensure compliance with company policies and Australian standards.

General Support

· Respond to financial queries from management and external stakeholders.

· Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

· Provide administrative support related to accounting and bookkeeping functions.

Skills & Experience Required

· 3–5 years of experience in accounting and bookkeeping within Australia.

· Strong understanding of Australian accounting standards, GST, BAS, and compliance.

· Excellent knowledge of Xero Accounting software.

· Proven experience with bookkeeping tasks including AP/AR, reconciliations, and payroll.

· Strong numerical and analytical skills with high attention to detail.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· Ability to prioritise tasks, manage deadlines, and work independently.

· Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite.
