Overview:
- This position requires tertiary qualifications in accounting to be able to work independently in the remote location. Critical to the position is an eagerness to learn and to assist with routine tasks. One of the essentials of this role is the capacity to work effectively with a strong emphasis on being able to work on tasks independently from commencement to finalisation. An ability to interact well with immediate superiors as well as demonstrated confidence and presence over the phone/Skype/emails is essential.
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written are considered an important aspect of the position, as is the capacity to research, and use deductive reasoning to solve problems. An emphasis on being able to ask questions is considered an important aspect of the position. A good understanding and application of SMSF accounting software such as Class Super or BGL 360.
Responsibilities
- To be able to enter data or process accounts in Class Super/ BGL 360 for the Self Managed Super Funds at an appropriate level dependent on experience. Ensure that all received work is recorded in the workflow system and updated as required.
Critical Responsibilities:
- Preparation of SMSF compliance work Preparation of Correspondence
- Liaison with External and Internal Auditor
- Cross Functional Support, where needed
Preparation of SMSF Compliance Work Duties:
- Ensure that all information is gathered prior to commencement of accounts work
- Processing of all the work in the software and compilation of Electronic/Manual working papers prior to having it reviewed by Team Leader
- Preparation of detailed working paper files where needed including investment, income and CGT reconciliations for all the SMSFs including in Pension Phase
- Ensure that any queries unresolved have been fully actioned prior to senior staff member's review.
- Prioritise workload to meet time frames for finalisation of accounting work requirements
- Prior to commencement of accounts work seek clarification / direction as to requirements
- Analyse results of financial statements and know where and why errors, inconsistencies and variances have occurred
- Complete tax return in tax software and correct discrepancies
Preparation of Correspondence Duties:
- Identify correct template and prepare correspondence as directed
- Ensure that all relevant details in preparing correspondence are correct
- Ensure that correspondence is reviewed and checked prior to distribution.
- Ensure that all received work is recorded in the workflow system and updated as required.
- Where concerns / questions arise with client material contact your immediate superior to seek clarification
Internal & External Audit Liaison Duties:
- Liaise with internal & external SMSF auditors to get the SMSF audit completed.
- Compile required documents and records for SMSF audit and resolving audit queries
- Maintaining of regulatory minutes & forms to ensure compliance with the SIS Legislations
Cross-Functional Support, Training, and Other Duties:
- Familiar with the NowInfinity software, where SMSF set ups are prepared.
- Be prepared to assist other personnel as required / requested.
- As required/or requested, be prepared to carry out other duties and responsibilities.
- Participate in any relevant / appropriate training programs as requested by the firm.
- Meeting all requirements as per employment contract.
