Role Mission

Maintain accurate and timely financial records, ensure integrity in all accounting processes, and contribute to automation, efficiency, and continuous improvement within Smart Suites growing finance operations. The Junior Accountant bridges manual accounting work with technology-driven efficiency through strong accounting skills, Excel mastery, and curiosity for process optimization.

Key Responsibilities 

• Perform end-to-end accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliation activities accurately and on schedule.
• Convert purchase orders to bills and sales orders to invoices; ensure all transactions are correctly recorded in Zoho Books.
• Prepare and review account reconciliations, identify discrepancies, and propose or post adjustment entries.
• Assist in month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring compliance with internal controls and reporting deadlines.
• Support financial statement preparation, internal management reports, and audit schedules.
• Maintain up-to-date AR/AP records, monitor overdue accounts, and process weekly pay runs and monthly rent payments.
• Create and refine Excel templates and reports that simplify reconciliation, tracking, and financial analysis.
• Participate in process improvement, automation initiatives, and system testing to enhance team efficiency.
• Uphold Smart Suites policies and ensure compliance with accounting principles and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with operations and admin teams; respond promptly to internal and external queries.
• Seek feedback and actively pursue learning opportunities related to accounting, systems, and automation.

Key Outcomes (First 90 Days) 

• Achieve 2 % posting and reconciliation error rate.
• Complete two monthly close cycles under mentor review with increasing independence.
• Demonstrate strong alignment with Smart Suites 4EIP values (Energy, Energize, Edge, Execute, Integrity, Passion).
• Develop and submit at least one efficiency or automation improvement idea (e.g., Excel template, workflow enhancement).
• Show measurable progress in Excel automation (e.g., using pivot tables, formulas, data validation, or Power Query)

Qualifications 

• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of accounting experience (CPA preferred but not required).
• Strong understanding of AP, AR, and bank reconciliation processes.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency (formulas, tables, pivot tables, lookups, data automation).
• Familiarity with Zoho Books or other accounting systems (Salesforce, Blackline, NetSuite, or Power BI a plus).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and accountability.
• Willingness to learn new tools and automation technologies.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills; open to feedback and continuous learning.
