Lead Our AI-First, Commercially-Driven Engineering Strategy

We are a rapidly scaling, globally-focused SaaS company with a market-leading product and a strong foundation of skilled developers. We are seeking a visionary, management-focused Director of Engineering to transition our team into a high-performance, AI-first execution unit. This is a critical leadership role reporting directly to the CEO/Founder.

This is a high-value, full-time, long-term contract for services role. The successful candidate will operate as an independent contractor.

What You Will Lead: The Mission

You are not an individual contributor; you are a strategic leader responsible for process, people, and commercial outcomes. Your primary mandate is to achieve our six core Strategic Product Objectives by focusing on:

1. AI-First Process Implementation: Mandate and drive the adoption of generative AI tools (like Gemini Pro) in every stage of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) to significantly boost developer velocity and efficiency.
2. Commercial Focus: Ensure all engineering effort directly translates to customer value and business outcomes, avoiding unnecessary technical solutions.
3. Team & Process Management: Provide the necessary structure, coaching, and accountability to our development team (ReactJS, C#, AWS/Terraform) to ensure predictable, high-quality delivery.
4. Product Health: Guarantee that the product remains solid, scalable, and easy to maintain (Code Base Supportability and Extendability).

Core Responsibilities

• Management & Coaching: Lead and mentor the 16-person development team. Focus on removing blockers, improving communication, and developing career progression plans.
• Standards Authority: Define, implement, and enforce engineering standards across the entire stack, including integration pipelines for complex R&D algorithms from our PhD Data Scientist.
• Delivery Execution: Own the Agile methodology (Scrum/Kanban), ensuring accurate estimation, predictable sprint delivery, and relentless focus on reducing technical debt and security risk.
• Technical Oversight: Provide strategic direction on our AWS infrastructure, C#/.NET architecture, and ReactJS front-end to drive measurable Performance & Efficiency.

Qualifications and Skills

• Experience: 8+ years in software development, with 4+ years leading and managing teams of 10+ people (required).
• Leadership Style: Proven ability to manage senior technical talent with a strong, documented focus on business outcomes and commercial alignment (Management priority, not hands-on coding).
• AI & Process: Direct experience integrating and measuring the impact of AI tools into the development lifecycle.
• AI Tool Expertise: Proven experience with Gemini Pro specifically, including implementation and performance measurement within development workflows.
• Technical Fluency: Deep familiarity with our stack: C#/.NET, ReactJS, and AWS (Terraform, RDS/Postgres) is essential for providing effective strategic guidance.

Compensation & Contract Details

This is a senior-level appointment with a competitive compensation package designed to attract top-tier leadership talent with a fixed monthly retainer and performance fee.

Note on Contract: As an Independent Contractor, you are responsible for your own taxes, benefits, and government contributions. Your service fee is designed to be highly competitive to account for this. The Performance Fee is tied to measurable achievements of our Strategic Product Objectives.
