Position: Bookkeeper – AU Accounting Firm

Employment Type: Full-time - Permanent Work from home set-up

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to join our fully remote team on behalf of our Australian accounting firm client. This role involves managing day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, preparing BAS, and ensuring accurate financial reporting for a portfolio of Australian clients. If you're proactive, organized, and enjoy working independently, we'd love to hear from you.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Record and categorize financial transactions using cloud accounting software (e.g., Xero).
  • Reconcile bank statements, credit cards, and general ledger accounts.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Process payroll, including superannuation and PAYG withholding.
  • Prepare and lodge BAS, IAS, and PAYG submissions as required.
  • Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and management insights.
  • Liaise with accountants for tax and compliance matters.
  • Maintain accurate, organized financial records and ensure data integrity.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 2–5+ years of bookkeeping experience (Australian clients preferred).
  • Strong understanding of Australian GST and BAS reporting.
  • Proficiency in Xero (MYOB or QuickBooks experience is a bonus).
  • Solid knowledge of accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and bank and credit card reconciliations.
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in a remote environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience working in accounting firms is highly preferred.
