About the Role:

Fortress Accounting is seeking an experienced and seasoned Staff Accountant who is highly proficient in QuickBooks Online (QBO) and Google Sheets to effectively oversee financial records and guarantee the smooth functioning of our clients' financial processes. This role is ideal for detail-oriented professionals with proven experience in accounting within SaaS, crypto, blockchain, AI, healthcare, and construction industries who thrive in a dynamic, high-energy, fast-paced environment. You'll work independently while collaborating with our global team, contributing to our innovative culture and delivering exceptional results for our clients.

Responsibilities:

• Comprehensive Accounting Operations: Oversee all aspects of both internal and client bookkeeping and accounting processes, including A/P, A/R, payroll, journal entries, bank reconciliations, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition
• QuickBooks Online Management: Expertly utilize QuickBooks Online (QBO) to manage diverse financial tasks and generate comprehensive financial reports
• Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare and publish timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements with accuracy and meticulous attention to detail. Leverage Google Sheets to analyze data, generate detailed reports, and create robust financial models
• Quality Control & Compliance: Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting to maintain the highest standards. Conduct regular audits and coordinate tax preparation activities ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations
• Process Development: Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls, ensuring adherence to generally accepted accounting principles
• Ledger Management: Conduct regular ledger procedures and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and maintain day-to-day financial operations
• Budget & Forecast Support: Assist with the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts for clients

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Minimum of 3 years of proven experience as a bookkeeper or accountant, preferably in SaaS, crypto, blockchain, AI, healthcare, or construction industries
• Expert proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO) - this is essential for success in this role
• Tech-savvy with strong digital proficiency: Mastery of Google Sheets, Google Suite, and other financial planning software
• Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and business and income tax worksheets and computations
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy with strong problem-solving and analytical abilities, even in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across time zones and cultures
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while being a collaborative team player
• CPA certification is a plus

Location & Work Arrangement:

This is a fully remote position open to candidates worldwide. You'll work independently while collaborating with our distributed team across ten countries.
