Job Title: Australian Accountant (With Inventory Accounting Experience)

Location: Australia

Employment Type: Full-Time

Reports to: Finance Manager / CFO

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with Australian Accounting Standards (AASB) and tax regulations.
  • General Ledger Management: Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions and ensure the integrity of the general ledger.
  • Reconciliations: Conduct monthly bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and reconciliation of other accounts as necessary.
  • Accounts Payable & Receivable: Oversee the accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections.
  • Tax Compliance: Assist with BAS (Business Activity Statement) and GST reporting, ensuring compliance with Australian tax regulations.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in preparing budgets, forecasts, and financial analysis to support decision-making.
  • Audit Support: Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and information.
  • Process Improvement: Contribute to the improvement of internal accounting systems, processes, and controls.

Desired Experience and Skills:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA is a plus.

Experience:

  • Proven experience in accounting, preferably in a similar industry or environment.
  • Inventory accounting experience is a plus, particularly in managing stock valuation, cost of goods sold (COGS), and stock reconciliations.
  • Familiarity with Australian accounting standards (AASB) and tax laws is essential.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Odoo, Xero, QuickBooks) and Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
