What is the job?

The Accounting Specialist is responsible for managing daily financial activities for the automotive dealership, focusing on bank reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting. The role requires a solid background in accounting within the automotive industry and strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely processing of financial data

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform daily bank reconciliations, ensuring discrepancies are identified and resolved promptly.


• Record and post daily, weekly, and monthly journal entries in compliance with dealership policies.


• Prepare and maintain accurate accounting statements and management reports.


• Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.


• Reconcile multiple dealership bank accounts and maintain integrity of financial data.


• Analyze variances and provide insights to support dealership management decisions.


• Support accounts payable and receivable processing as needed.


• Collaborate with sales, service, and parts departments to ensure seamless accounting operations.


• Maintain compliance with dealership, OEM, and regulatory requirements.


• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for accounting procedures.

Qualifications:


• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field


• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in automotive dealership accounting or general accounting.


• Experience using MS Excel and dealership management systems (e.g., Dealertrack or similar).


• Knowledge of accounting principles, reconciliation processes, and month-end close procedures.


• Consistently maintains accuracy and attention to detail in transaction recording and reporting.


• Proven track record of organizing and managing multiple priorities effectively.


• Works well in collaboration with multiple departments.


• Uses analytical thinking to identify discrepancies and recommend solutions.


• Clear and coherent in both communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members and external stakeholders.
