We are seeking a versatile and proactive Medical Virtual Assistant to support day-to-day front office operations in a medical practice. This role combines the responsibilities of a Virtual Receptionist, Insurance Verifier, Prior Authorization Specialist, and/or Billing Assistant. The ideal candidate is organized, tech-savvy, and experienced in US healthcare processes, ensuring patients receive timely care and the practice maintains efficient billing and insurance workflows.

This is a Work-from-home opportunity.

This is a full-time position, 30/40 hrs a week

The rate is $7 an hour or Php 61,000+ per month

The Virtual Medical Assistant plays a crucial role in ensuring smooth operations in a medical facility. Their responsibilities often include but not limited to:

  • Handle patient calls, schedule appointments, manage messages, and perform new patient intake with accurate EMR data entry.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits, communicate coverage details, and flag issues as needed.
  • Submit and track prior authorizations, coordinate with providers for documentation, and maintain updated patient records.
  • Support billing tasks including charge entry, basic coding review, denial follow-up, and patient billing inquiries.

Requirements and skills

  • Customer Service experience in required
  • Extensive Knowledgeable with medical terminology, EHR/EMR is required
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, insurance plans (PPO, HMO, Medicare/Medicaid), and the insurance and prior authorization process.
  • Proficient in EMR/EHR systems (e.g., Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Kareo), payer portals, and eligibility tools (e.g., Availity).
  • A degree in Medical and Health sciences is preferred.
  • HIPAA Certification is a plus
  • Excellent English speaking skills (both oral and written proficiency)
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in a medical-related background, Worked previously as Virtual Assistant in a medical setting
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and/or G Suite and other technology tools
  • Able to manage time effectively and efficiently
  • Able to organize and manage large amounts of files, tasks, schedules, and information
