The Director of Risk drives the Operations Risk Governance and Control agenda which includes RCSAs, Control Testing, Controls Frameworks, Audit preparations, across 10 Asia markets. The Director of Risk serves as a point of reference and knowledge in terms of governance and controls and draws attention to emerging risks to identify and to close control gaps.

Responsibilities:

  • Supports implementation of new Operations Controls Governance frameworks. This may include:

  • Conducting walkthroughs with individual markets with management, SMEs, etc.

  • Performing Gap Analysis to measure current state
  • Assist to Coordinate risk and control project activities and promote good practices and share intelligence (e.g. fraud trends)
  • Guides market to close gaps and implement control frameworks. Discussions with L1A, L2 and other stakeholders in markets may be necessary.
  • Drives and supports other activities such as RCSAs, Control Testing, Audit Preparations etc.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Around 10 years of progressive leadership experience in operational risk management.
  • A solid understanding of core insurance operational processes. Experience working within operations or with operations controls is necessary.
  • Experience with risk and controls self-assessment (RCSA), Control Testing, and Audit preparations are necessary.
  • Experience in dealing with multiple Asia markets is a plus.

  • Deep understanding of operational processes and risks and how they can impact the business.
  • Ability to deep-dive effectively into existing processes and controls
  • Ability to analyze control gaps and work closely with the stakeholders to identify, plan, and implement effective controls.
  • Ability to effectively articulate technical vision, possibilities, and outcomes through strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and implementation capabilities, with good time management and reporting skills.
  • Proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Excel, Visio, Access, Power BI, SQL will be an advantage.
